Today I am announcing that this will be my last season that I will be able to write, edit, and score the Fantasy Survivor game that I have loved to produce over the last 9 years.
Although it brings me great trepidation to be making such announcement; at the same time it does bring me a bit of personal relief. As anyone who has played the game in the last 4 seasons has noticed, clearly my real life commitments have made it rather difficult to find the time required to manage this game at the level of quality and timeliness that I personally require and the players of Fantasy Survivor deserve and expect. Although I still look forward to watch Survivor from week to week, in many cases I am unable to do so early enough to avoid hastily producing the next set of questions. Clearly when this happens the quality of the game suffers greatly.
Since day 1, I have always intended Fantasy Survivor to rise above all the other typical Survivor pick-em games to provide more opportunities for our players to speculate Survivor dynamics other than the standard games simply predicting who wins challenges or gets voted off from week to week. Survivor has always been more than challenges and tribal councils, and we tried to expand upon that with our game. This has become even more important lately as the core events for Survivor are more often than not no longer a surprise to internet connected super-Survivor fans. The effort required to produce the Fantasy Survivor game to meet those goals do require a healthy time commitment.
Regardless of what happens in the future, I still remain a great fan of Survivor and have religiously watched every episode for the past 20 seasons, and I will continue to do so as long as the program remains on the air. Of course, my dvr will be pleased that I will be able to watch the show without pausing and rewinding the episode hundreds of times. I still remember what I was thinking several seasons back that here I am watching a Survivor challenge and the only thing I am particularly interested in is how many times a little ping pong ball was bouncing on a drum the Survivors were carrying along their obstacle course.
I am hopeful that since we started this little game back when Survivor Africa aired we have done our part to bring a little extra fun to the show we all love to watch. Thanks to all of our players both past and present for playing our little game. This game would not have lasted eighteen seasons if it were not for the loyal players. I had a blast administrating the game and it never ceases to amaze me that something I created simply for the enjoyment of my friends and coworkers has solely by word of mouth grown to be dominated by players whom I don’t personally know and likely will never have the opportunity to meet in my lifetime.
Oh and for those who have asked in the past or may have been wondering about me personally... No need to be worried about anything like that. Yes, of course I have experienced my fair share of major events in the past year and a half in both my personal and professional life that have required me to adjust my priorities… Many of which have been extremely positive along with a few negative challenges along the way... But this is no different that what I expect every one of us experiences in real life… I have much to be thankful for and am glad I have been able to share a bit of that with others through Fantasy Survivor. I have simply come to a point where I must retire from a great personal hobby so that I can free myself to pursue the new opportunities that will present themselves in the future.
I will however miss this game.

Oh… I should point out, that is indeed a question mark in the title of this announcement. Fantasy Survivor the game may indeed see another season in the future. I am still considering a plan to continue to support and host Fantasy Survivor, just with a reduction in my personal involvement in the editing of the game. If there are any individuals who are interested in taking over question writing, editing, and scoring duties... please get in touch with me. And for those in the Fantasy Survivor community know of anyone who would be especially qualified for the role and should be nominated for consideration, I too would like to hear from you. I’ll keep this thread open for those discussions. If I get a lot of interest, I may turn to the community to vote on whom they think would be best for the job… So stay tuned for any future developments.
Sometimes the hardest thing to do is to know when to let something go. I would imagine that this decision did not come easy, but if the time has come for you move on I wish you the best. I would also like to thank you very much. I have really enjoyed your game. As you lock up that last time and turn the lights off in this place, I hope you smile a little smile knowing that a lot of people like myself really had fun here, in your place.

Artie, you have provided a great game to many Survivor fanatics. Running a game of this caliber takes time and dedication and it has not gone unappreciated. I hope to see Fantasy Survivor back next season one way or another but understand your reasoning for leaving. From all of us at ReFaForu I would like to say Thank You!!!

Hey everyone... Thanks a bunch for the kind words... It's great to know we had tons of fans.
Just an update.. I am current working on recruiting a team of writers and a primary admin for future seasons. I seem to have gotten enough interest from players that it appears likely there will be a future season of Fantasy Survivor under with a new writing staff... So stay tuned for that.
I definitely want to hear from anyone who wishes to be part of this effort... Even if you only thing you'd be available part time.. Just let me know what role you'd like to play.... So if you're interested, please send me an email at artie@fantasysurvivor.com....
In your note please include a message regarding how much involvement and or responsibility in the game you'd be comfortable with. If you'd like to be considered for the lead admin/editor role please let me know and include in your note if you have any thoughts, ideas, or suggestions you'd like to see as improvements for the game if you were chosen to host it. I'd definitely want to have the primary roles locked down in the next few weeks.
